What is Iodosorb used for?

Iodosorb is an antiseptic ointment used to prevent and treat wound infections. It works by releasing iodine, which prevents the growth of bacteria, fungi, and other microorganisms. The ointment can also reduce inflammation and help to keep the wound clean by removing debris and exudates. Iodosorb has been found to be effective against a wide range of bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Candida albicans, Acinetobacter baumannii and Streptococcus pyogenes.

Does iodine heal wounds faster?

Iodosorb is a patented cadexomer iodine ointment used to treat infected and hard-to-heal wounds. It helps the healing process by absorbing exudate, providing an ideal moist wound environment and controlling bacteria. The ointment also contains a slow-release form of iodine that kills bacteria and prevents infection.

Iodosorb can be used in both acute and chronic wounds such as diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, surgical wounds, venous leg ulcers, burns, donor sites and traumatic wounds. The ointment is applied directly to the wound or may be covered with gauze or other suitable dressing material. The gel should be replaced at least every three days unless otherwise directed
