What is Iodosorb used for?
Iodosorb is an antiseptic ointment used to prevent and treat wound infections. It works by releasing iodine, which prevents the growth of bacteria, fungi, and other microorganisms. The ointment also contains a slow-release form of iodine that kills bacteria and prevents infection.
Iodosorb can be used in both acute and chronic wounds such as diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, surgical wounds, venous leg ulcers, burns, donor sites and traumatic wounds. The ointment is applied directly to the wound or may be covered with gauze or other suitable dressing material. The gel should be replaced at least every three days unless otherwise directed
